Decarbonization is a critical global initiative aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions to combat climate change. Our students will actively engage in a variety of reforestation activities, including hands-on work in our in-house native tree greenhouse, where we cultivate a diverse selection of indigenous tree species. This unique resource allows students to gain practical experience in nurturing plants from seed to sapling. Additionally, they will participate in tree planting initiatives within the community.

Our teachers organize exciting scavenger hunts throughout our vibrant green town, where students can explore and identify a variety of trees, birds, and plants. These interactive activities foster a deeper connection with the environment and strengthen ties within our community. By immersing themselves in nature, students not only enhance their observational skills but also develop a greater appreciation for local biodiversity and the importance of conservation. This hands-on learning experience encourages teamwork, curiosity, and a sense of responsibility towards the natural world.

Students will have the opportunity to visit the nearby Rescate Wildlife Rescue Center, the only official Wildlife Rescue Center in Costa Rica. This unique experience not only allows students to learn about the vital work being done to rehabilitate and protect local wildlife but also contributes directly to the conservation of Costa Rica's rich biodiversity. By participating in this visit, students play a role in supporting efforts that ensure the survival of endangered species and promote awareness of environmental stewardship within the community.

The Alajuela River is an important waterway that flows through the region. It is part of a network of rivers in the area, contributing to the province's rich natural landscape, which includes numerous national parks and protected areas.   Join us in our efforts to keep the Alajuela River and other waterways reforested and clean, benefiting our communities, our country, and our planet. Your participation makes a difference!

Sustainability and Community Development Policy

In this family venture, our goal is to immerse foreign visitors in the rich Costa Rican culture. We offer Spanish classes that are useful for their personal development, as well as the opportunity to learn about our traditions, explore typical cuisine, and discover various forms of Costa Rican art, such as traditional dance. We believe that one of the most important aspects of our proposal is the active participation of visitors in reforestation practices. This includes working in our nursery, where we cultivate native tree species, as well as planting trees along the banks of the Alajuela River, which flows through our community. In order to achieve these objectives, we are directly involving the community of Lagos del Coyol and La Garita de Alajuela. We offer tourists the chance to stay with local families and hire local instructors to teach them about typical cuisine and dance, among other activities. Additionally, we are managing the use of the community hall to showcase the work done by tourists to the local community. Through guided walks around the town, we present visitors with the flora and fauna of our district, fostering respectful interaction between tourists and residents. Feel free to ask if you need any further assistance!
